Meet the Chaplain

Canon Docherty is the Catholic Chaplain at the University of Lancaster and Episcopal Vicar for Education and Formation in the Diocese of Lancaster. He is resident on Campus living in the Catholic Flat in the Chaplaincy centre. Caspar, his 11-year-old Weimaraner is also resident.

After completing a history degree at the University of Nottingham he taught in Dover prior to studying for the priesthood at the Venerable English College in Rome, where he specialised in Dogmatic Theology.

Canon Michael has been a priest for 22 years and served in parishes across the Diocese of Lancaster as well as in the field of education. He is a Trustee of the Diocese of Lancaster and Chair of the Board of Education and Formation.
